I'm sitting here just typing away at work on a SUNDAY. I'm here for another 2.5 hours so might as well blog a quick post before going back on my way. I deserve a "lunch" break, right?
Well, I was thinking about how to get good service. We often wonder if a restaurant's going to give you good service when you get there. Some places are known for good service while others might have spotty or even reputably bad service.
It's simple and complicated at the same time. The interplay between the diner and the server is like a dance, both formal and casual. In one sense a server has one main job - bring you food. While that activity is the science, the art is in making your experience with the food enjoyable.
I'm going to propound many other thoughts in a future FoodGPS Food Insights column, but until then I can't help but think: we get good service because I try my best to be nice, understanding, and cordial while Christine just stays her giddy, beautiful, and enthusiastic self. Seriously, who wouldn't want to serve us? Oh last bit - we generally tip generously. Count it.

I'd serve you for free.
I really make an effort to be as nice and courteous to my servers as possible -- saying, "please," "thank you" and letting them know if I really enjoy something. Not just because I want to get good service in return, but because it's the right thing to do. Treat people how you want to be treated. Nuff said. :)
i can't believe u posted these *covers face* im so embarrassed haha
Lizzie: thanks! you dont' have to though..tipping is always a good thing.
Diana: you're totally right, just treat people how you want to be treated. Christine and I abide by that when we're at restaurants.
Christine: part of the benefits of being my girlfriend! :)
