After 7 Hours and it's just Monday: Weekend Recap

Thankfully I don't ever drink enough to get hangovers (usually 1-2 is about it each night), I did have a pretty awesome weekend on many levels.

Friday night, Christine and I went out to eat. While that previous sentence sounds extremely trite, it was actually the first time we had gone out to eat since about 8 days earlier! For some fluke, it had been that long since just she and I had a meal. I wanted to head to Reservoir in Silver Lake since they had opened just a few weeks ago and hadn't received any blog chatter, but we opted for something a little more comforting, something more familiar.

We headed to Kozy Korner, a cute little nook of a restaurant in Glendale with some solid, if not delicious Thai cuisine. JC of Funnel Mill and his fiance had mentioned this to us when we were last at his store (actually, that was just the first week I had met Christine!). Anyways, I'll be doing a full post on this place for all of you to enjoy.

Saturday I made some fingerling potatoes wrapped with aged Gouda and prosciutto and put it on a bamboo skewer to be in commpliance with Napkin's lunchtime "stick" potluck, where a bunch of us made food meant to be eaten on sticks. I'll have a great post coming up on this as well.

Later in the afternoon, after a two hour nap, I went boogie boarding at Venice Beach (since Napkin lives a stone's throw away). The water was cold so I had to wear a wetsuit. Notwithstanding my ungainly figure of 180+ lbs, I managed to look like a plump penguin. Christine's initial reaction was both priceless and FML-worthy. She just buried her face in her hand, making a loud "slap!" because she was so dismayed. I don't blame her. The water certainly was cold, but I acclimated quickly. Problem was, I got tired in just half an hour so we headed back.

For dinner we went to Dae Bok with 15+ people, 8-9 bloggers and some other bystanders. Yes, we did live after eating all that blowfish, but the Scoops Ice cream, Crazy Hook, and Palm Tree (for karoake/NRB) might have done everyone in. The blowfish part will be blog-worthy while the rest, well let's just say my camera was left in the car.

Sunday, I had the Poor Man's Buffet at Larkin's Joint in Eagle Rock. It was a picturesque meal, and I'll have a post on that coming up soon. Oh, and throw in a slice from Round Table Pizza, the "last honest pizza" as they say. Sausage and mushrooms..I wish I had that for lunch today.

Anyways, Monday's almost done. I can't wait because I'm exhausted from so much action. I want to just chill...over some wine...or coffee...

spicy chicken wings

Spicy Chicken Wings from Izakaya Bincho...not part of last weekend's food package, but they are something I'm craving right now.
