Lucques: Late-night Steak Frites

For 22 clams you can get one of the best steak frites in Los Angeles. Meaty, chewy, rich, saucy from bordelaise and bearnaise. Steak's probably onglet (or hangar) so it's full of flavor and perfectly medium rare (they don't even ask, and I love that). On the side are some crisp fries laced with fresh herbs and a simple salad. Dine at Lucques on a weeknight after 9:30 or weekend after 10 and you can get this meal for a mere $22 at the bar. We ended up enjoying this fine late-night snack after a good, but ultimately short-handed meal at Grace Restaurant.

Just feast with your eyes. Glass of Burgundy and you're off to a good night's sleep. It's a nice size so two people could probably share it. With wine, tip & tax, you're looking at $20-25 a person.

Oh, you get the signature Lucques olives and almonds with your meal. Don't forget those. Susanne Goin's first restaurant still features market-fresh ingredients made a la Chez Panisse with a bit of a Southern California twist. Interior is lovely with a fireplace and Stone/wood motif. Patio is arguably the best in the city. Prices are high but it's WeHo, what do you expect? I have yet to try the Sunday Supper - one of these days.

Thanks for the post and info. I haven't been to Lucques since the annual bbq so I'm due back for sure!

You had a full meal at Grace first and then a steak at Lucques? Man, you live the good life

MyLastBite: Lucques is always worth the visit. I love the place.

Loving annie: steak frites are one of my favorite places: meat and starch in their best preparations.

Aaron: well, a full meal at grace is only three courses. Nothing like the encore to Kevin's dinner at Chibucho: Tommy's :). And I shared those steak frites with Christine.
