Friday night I went to Jax Bar and Grill in Glendale for what's usually my favorite weeknight routine: burger, soup and beer with live jazz in the background. Went there after watching Wall-E, which might be my favorite Pixar film after Ratatouille (of course).
Saturday I went to Best Fish Taco in Ensenada again, taking my father there. He loved it and vows to go back regularly. He's a big taco guy just like me. Like son, like father.
In the evening I had some small Korean tapas at Cafe Bleu (called anju) and they weren't that bad. Later I went to Cheesecake Factory (blasphemy, I know) and had some Fat Tire with a banana cream cheesecake before watching Wanted. Crazy action flick that's a bit too vulgar and bloody for my tastes.
Sunday I actually cooked at home for once, making some blase bowtie pasta. I packed it for lunch today. I also finished watching The Life Aquatic with Steve Zizzou, a funny, colorful film that's quirky and adorable. I'm really liking Wes Anderson as of late. I still didn't finish Darjeeling Limited so I think that's next.
While this last weekend was comfort food and movies, next weekend I'll be traveling up to Central and Northern California with my family. We'll be stopping by the famous San Luis Obispo Farmer's Market, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Berkeley, where much of my culinary revelations have occurred in the past few years. We're talking Kermit Lynch, Chez Panisse, Monterey Market, Cheeseboard, Zachary's, Ici, el al.
Road Trip here we come!

I looooove Life Aquatic. One of my favorite Wes Anderson films. Darjeeling Limited is so visually stimulating.
both life aquatic and darjeeling have such great color and texture. I liked The Royal Tenenbaums as well.
